Rules and Bylaws

Waiver of Liability

Jokes on Us Barrel Racing Productions, will assume no responsibility or liability for injury, or death to a person or animal or damage to property of any owner, contestant or assistant. Each participant, by the act of paying their entry fees and entering the facilities - including but not limited to: arena, stalls, wash rack areas, parking lots, bathrooms, and any other part of the facility included in the premise, waive all claims against JOUP, and any arena for which shows are operated from, owners, workers, and/or any one person or entity associated with JOUP events for injury/damage/death he/she or their property sustain. No person associated with the production of the show may be help liable for any of the above occurrences.

Participants Responsibility

Participants are responsible for being up to date on the rules, which will be posted on the event pages, the  JOKES ON US PRODUCTIONS FB page, particularly relating to events in which they compete. Failure to understand will not be accepted as an excuse.

Posting of Results
Results to any event will be posted publicly in a timely manner after each event on www.sgpevents.net and on the event page on Facebook.

***JOUP reserves the right to pay more or less holes based on these payout ranges***


1-25 entries pay 1 place per division

26-50 entries pay 2 places per division

51-100 entries pay 3 places per division

101-143 entries pay 4 places per division

144-200 entries pay 5 places per division

201-250 entries pay 6 places per division

251 & 333 entries pay 7 places

**Added Money will be paid back 100%

**Specialty class may vary, but will be clearly advertised.

**Decisions of the timers and judges shall be final. Any protests must be addressed at the office the day of the show.

**In the event the timer fails to operate a rerun will be granted during that same event. Penalties will stand if barrels or poles are knocked during timer failure. A "No Time" for a down barrel or pole will be assessed in divisional races. If a timer fails and cannot be replaced, the entire event will be rerun by all contestants on a replacement timing system so that all contestants are timed on the same timer.

**In the event a contestant’s equipment breaks, no rerun will be allowed.

**Open classes are open to all ages.

**3D HIGHSTAKES classes will be paid out on (.5) second splits

>>1D - 50%

>>2D - 30%

>>3D - 20%

**4D Classes will be paid out on a (.5) second splits

>>1D - 35%

>>2D - 30%

>>3D - 20%

>>4D - 15%


Contestant Expectations

JOUP owner’s decisions are final. Any unruly behavior, disrespect to staff, public online attacks, or ill-treatment of animals at the show will not be tolerated. JOUP reserves the right to scratch contestants without a refund if above poor behavior/sportsmanship is displayed.

Violators will receive:

(1) one verbal or written warning

(2) a second offense will result in a disqualification for that event that day and you will be asked to leave with no refund of entry fees.

(3) a third offense will result in a ban from future JOUP events

Claiming Payout
-If the show was paid out in cash and you are planning to pick up and there is not a show within 60 days, JOUP will continue to hold the cash for a later date.
-If you are not present at the end of the show, cash payments will be held until the next show if not picked up the day of, unless otherwise stated. You may have someone pick up and sign for you to pick up cash or checks. JOUP is not liable for any payments claimed by outside parties you have designated.

Winnings that are paid back in cash, will be made ready for pick up at the next event if not picked up the same day.
-We will NOT pay back with Venmo or Paypal - it is a direct violation of their policies and can result in accounts being banned.

Printed/Posted Material & Show Day Announcements

Posted and printed material is updated often. Also check with management for the most up to date information. Announcements at shows always superseded any printed/post material, should unexpected changes arise.

Empty Draw Spots

JOUP reserves the right to fill empty draw spots should spots become available.

Disclaimers

We ( Jokes on Us Productions) reserve the right to refuse entry for ANY reason. Behavior by contestants or spectators that is deemed inappropriate will not be tolerated and is grounds for dismissal from event with no refund.

These actions include but are not limited to:

Theft, destruction of property, willful endangering any animal or human, excessive whipping/kicking/hitting of a horse, or verbal & physical threats of any kind. This list can be added to in any capacity at the production’s discretion.

DISCLOSURE: When entering this event, you agree to the following. Rider agrees to become familiar with and abide by the rules of this event. Rider understands that  Jokes on Us Productions (producers of this event) along with the staff and associates of JOUP, arenas, owners, and any of their affiliates are not responsible for any accident, injury, theft or death to themselves or property while attending, competing, camping or spectating at this event. Rider understands that  Jokes on Us Productions reserves the right to refuse entry for any reason.

Contestants may be photographed and videotaped at our events. Videos and photos may be posted online by the official event photographer. Videos and photos taken by the official photographer may be used at the discretion of JOUP productions for promotional reasons. Official photographer/videographer has exclusive rights to public sale of photos from our events. Contestants in our database may be contacted via email and/or text messaging to provide you with reminders of upcoming events, sponsor specials or obtain feedback.

MOCK NFR RACE RULES:

Dress code:
-Long sleeves (must be button up collar and cuff)
-Jeans
-Cowboy boots with heels
-Cowboy Hats or helmets
-If you lose a hat inside the arena, you must pay the barrel setter $5 to get it back
-Dress code will be waived if contestant chooses to wear JOUP merchandise. IE Shirt or sweatshirt
DRAWS AND DRAW OUTS
- Draws will be posted on SGPEVENTS.net, as well as the event page by 12:00 PM November 24th 2025.
- No draw outs allowed once pre entries close.
-Draw outs will need to be done before entries close at 11:59 PM on November 21st, 2025. All draw out requests will need to be emailed to mlh0972@hotmail.com before the close of pre-entries.
-After that time, all fees are due. If you are a no show, you will be invoiced for fees and that must be paid before you can enter another race.
-The selling of spots is allowed, and all horse and rider changes must be done in the office 1 hour prior to the start of the session in which said horse and rider are in.
-All entries must be paid for before the contestant runs. Failure to do so will result in a disqualification.
-Special requests, I.E number of spacing between the running of two horses, requests to be in drags with friends, etc, will need to be emailed to mlh0972@hotmail.com before the closing of pre-entries at 11:59 PM on November 21st 2025. Requests will be reviewed, but not guaranteed.
- The draw is a random draw for contestants and horses. No preference will be given to which horse runs first.
-It is your responsibility to know your draw positions and run the correct horse in the correct draw position. Running the wrong horse will result in a disqualification for both horses that this affects. Anyone signing up after the running order is posted will be put at the bottom of the list or filled in to and open/scratch spot if the opportunity arises.  The only exception is when an individual has more than one horse and we will do the best we can to space them.
-You must be ready and trying to get your horse in the arena when your name is called. We do make every effort to give you a fair chance to enter the arena but after 2 minutes we may begin the 3 call. First call you will have two minutes to notify us that you are actively trying, after 2 minutes, the second and third call will be back to back. If you have a horse that is hard to get in the arena, please have help available.
-Each arena has a unique set-up - but you MUST be checked in with the gate official before your run. If there is a designated holding pen with a closing gate - you MUST be in the holding pen before the gate is closed. If you are not checked in with the gate official before the start of your drag of five, you will be deemed a scratch and no refunds will be given.
-Forward motion rule is in effect. Once you reach the plane of the alleyway, you are not allowed to circle and must maintain forward momentum into the arena. This is also a run-out gate, and you will finish in the holding pen to the west. You must exit the holding pen from the WEST side gate.
-We drag every 5 and do a big drag every 50.
-A down barrel or broken pattern is a no time. Contestants may not go around a barrel more than once
-Exhibitions have a 60 second time limit. Anyone that goes over the time limit when being repeatedly warned will forfeit their next exhibition or may be disqualified from the race.
-No changes to entries may be made after your run has been completed.

DOUGLAS COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS
-There will be no tying of horses in the back arena area.
-Only the next five horses in the draw will be allowed to enter the building from the east side.
-Exiting will be from the west side of the arena, closest to Harper Street. No horses are allowed in the west side of the arena unless they have an ongoing appointment with an equine body worker or farrier, or are exiting the arena after their run.
-No open arena time will be allowed, even in the result of inclement weather.
-Arena will open at 2:30.PM for contestant entries.  No horses will be allowed in the arena prior to 3PM when the first horse runs.
-Warm up area will be north of the Douglas County indoor arena in the grass parking area.
-No horses are allowed in areas designated by the Douglas County Fairgrounds as a no horse zone. Maps will be posted in the event page for clarification, and signage is posted in areas at the Fairgrounds.
-All questions and concerns can be brought to the office during big drags or in between sessions.
-No contestants are allowed in the  announcer stand.
-Vendors may arrive as early as 2 PM to begin setting up, and will need to be out of the fairgrounds building by no later than 9 PM
-No alcohol of any kind is permitted at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Failure to comply will result in the removal of the contestant from the fairgrounds with no refund
